Doing A Little Work Today

Started working on some of the rust today

Used a corded drill and a wire brush attachment.

The rusty area before...

And after.

Went to the store and got some stuff.

Rust converter for the areas I hit with the wire brush, silicone for the holes from the seat bolts, and various screws. Before I paint it with the rust-o-leum, I am going to have to hit the entire floor with the wire wheel because of all the glue on the floor.

I got gloss black because if I don't use the entire gallon I will use it on other parts of the bus I'll be painting black.

Slow but sure. How do you like my purple seat with rollers. It worked great for me when sealing each hole.

I thought I would be able to paint by now, and thought I would just hit various areas with some paint, but feel it would be better to prep the whole floor and paint it with the rust-o-leum to be sure to protect the flooring.

I hadn't had the chance to work on DDH lately because of the weather and other things, but was happy to get this time. My next step will hopefully be prepping the floor and painting it. Then after that hopefully I'll be buying some construction insulation and plywood for the floor.
See Ya Later...

I Feel Dirty

It was a nasty misty day in Katy, so we went to a car wash and washed the bus out.
This is before we started.

Covered up the front with plastic to prevent too much water getting into any of the electrical stuff.

Have my helper with me to day.

I thought about using a buddies power washer, but I would not have had the advantage of the foam dispensing scrub brush. Plus if I washed it in front of my house I could have not used the side door to push grime and dirty water out of due to traffic on that side.

I just washed up to the bottom of the windows. My objective was to get most of the heavy grime and dirt out. I will go back and do more detail cleaning and clean the are above the windows later.

I did get a few strange looks from people when I pulled the bus into the car wash, and a few people drove by real slow trying to see what was going on.

After.

You cant really see it but its cleaner. The yellow stuff on the floor is glue from the rubber mat, and some spots of rust. But a lot of the gunk and grime is gone, especially on the rails that held the seats to the wall.

One step closer. Now we will do more detail cleaning, prep floor, paint and then put down flooring. that's when it will get really exciting.
Until next time...
